??Refresh your wardrobe, rethink your storage
The weather is slowly getting warmer and we are heading towards a relaxation of lockdown in Scotland, so you might find this the perfect time to rethink your go to items, have a reshuffle and refresh your wardrobe. I’ve recently contributed to this Royal Bank of Scotland blog post with smart ideas for your storage challenges. Read here>>
?Hit restart on make up and toiletries
Whether excited to be wearing more make up or having made a resolution to wear less post lockdown, this is a good opportunity to take stock of your make up, skincare and toiletries.
To donate or recycle make up and toiletries, the following options are available even during lockdown: Beauty Banks is a non-profit – like foodbanks but with essential personal care & beauty items instead. Recycle empty beauty containers with John Lewis or use the recycle scheme at Boots.
Bear in mind that, as a general rule, most liquid make up shouldn’t be kept longer than six months once opened, as it can harbour germs
New/unopened make up products can be given to a friend or sold on eBay. Alternatively, women’s and homeless shelters will gladly accept unopened items that are in good condition.
?Rediscover your garden
Do your outdoor storage spaces provide essential storage or have they simply become clutter graveyards? Spring is the ideal opportunity to create a Better Organised shed or garage!
Old appliances, once-useful gadgets and outgrown garden toys all take up valuable space. Clear out and maybe find some hidden gems whilst freeing up space. Offer unwanted items on Gumtree or Facebook groups and give them a new lease of life. For other items, check this website for guidance on appropriate recycling.
Once clearing is complete, choose your storage carefully. Avoid bin bags or cardboard boxes which will deteriorate. Instead, go for sturdy clear plastic boxes. Look for ones that are stackable and have clip lids. Adding large labels with a simple description of contents makes it easy to identify and categorise your belongings.
If you need help tackling your next declutter project around the house – remember you get £50 OFF your next in-person Better Organised session.
Before I go, I’d like to take a moment and wish you a bright, light and beautiful spring as we all welcome new beginnings and possibilities! I hope all of you get to meet and hug loved ones soon, get to spend valuable time with family and friends and become more social again,
