Coffee and a Chat about…Life Coaching
Here at Better Organised HQ we love coffee and chat, so have a series of blogs that take place over a cuppa! We caught up with Glasgow-based Life Coach Diane Goldberg shortly after she announced her appearance at this year’s Girls’ Day Out Show.
What do you do?
I help people to identify and achieve their objectives. I use proven methods for accelerating personal growth and work with clients to successfully implement appropriate tools and techniques to overcome some of the barriers that have previously stopped them from reaching their goals.
What is your background?
I have over 20 years’ experience in leading and supporting cultural change programmes within the corporate world and have been a life coach since 2014. I am also proud to be a Trustee for Alzheimer Scotland and work on a voluntary basis to ensure the continued vitality of the charity.
How can you help me?
Working with you, I determine where you are now and I’ll then support and motivate you to get to where you’d like to be. I will tailor the approach and frequency of sessions to what suits you as an individual — there is no ‘one size fits all’ with life coaching and, although there is no magic wand, it is a valuable self-investment whereby clients get out what they put in.
Why should I hire you?
People often come to me because they are at the end of their tether, either professionally — for instance, if they are contemplating early retirement or experiencing a redundancy situation — or personally, perhaps following a divorce or bereavement. Clients often say that their friends and family try to help but this usually involves them telling the client what to do. I am there to listen and guide the client to feel empowered and confident in making their own decisions.
What are the main benefits of hiring a life coach, as opposed to ‘going it alone’ or using other resources i.e. self-help books etc?
The main advantage is that this is a two-way partnership. I provide a place to go where the discussion is focussed entirely on you and what you are looking to accomplish, and I promise to actively listen without judgement. When clients know that they have a session booked with me they tend to feel more accountable and focussed on their actions.
What part does being organised play in terms of helping me to achieve my goals?
New clients often describe feelings of being disorganised, overwhelmed, helpless or indecisive. Life coaching will often put them back in control, as they determine the pace, the direction and the steps that are taken. Being organised in their approach, and allowing time in their schedule, means that they’re generally more focussed, committed and successful in achieving their goals.
What do clients say about your service?
That they reap the rewards of engaging with me and the life coaching process! They often comment that their concentration improves, they feel more organised and as though a weight has been lifted. A client recently commented after her first session, ‘I feel different already!’. I’m often told that the process makes the individual feel more in control, motivated, satisfied and driven!
