Coffee and a Chat about…Better Organised
Here at Better Organised HQ we love coffee and chat, so have a series of blogs that take place over a cuppa! In the last in this series of blogs, we have another catch-up with Kate, Professional Organiser & PA, to find out a bit more about the benefits of getting Better Organised!
What do you do?
I support clients by providing a fresh pair of eyes and an extra set of hands at times when their lives are busier than ever, either due to personal circumstances — such as preparing for relocation — or when their business is growing and they want to move it forward strategically. I work on an ad hoc or ongoing basis to help them get better organised, freeing up some of their time to do things they enjoy or that help them to grow their business.
What is your background?
I have over twenty years’ experience in administrative support, PA and HR roles across a range of sectors, so am very accustomed to helping others to stay organised. I’ve also volunteered with local and international charities, and am mum to two energetic young children (a true test of anyone’s organisational skills!).
Why do clients come to you?
When clients approach me they’re often feeling overwhelmed and say they simply don’t know where to start. Every client is different, but what they do have in common is that they have exceptionally busy lives, are juggling many priorities and are at a stage where they recognise the benefits of having some external support.
I work with them to identify areas where I can add the most value, provide practical hands-on help and assist them to put solutions in place. This could include researching services, activities or projects on their behalf, implementing a simple filing system, demonstrating an efficient method of managing emails, or working alongside them to re-organise an area in their home or office.
What about confidentiality?
I am a proud member of The Association of Professional Declutterers & Organisers (APDO) and provide a practical, courteous and confidential service that complies with their code of ethics. There’s only a handful of APDO consultants in Scotland — we travel to clients’ premises to help organise their homes, offices or lives, and our membership demonstrates a commitment to professionalism and compliance with industry standards.
